Source and styles

How to Photograph a Room for AI Room Design

A standing-height photo that shows the walls, one window or door, and the main furniture gives both looks more geometry to share. Straight-on shots compare more honestly than extreme wide angles.

Photograph the real room once

Use a JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 5 MB, with each side from 256 to 4,096 pixels and no more than 16 megapixels. One source photo drives both looks.

Pick two different styles

Living room, bedroom, or study tells the brief which furniture class to restyle. Style A and style B must differ. Modern minimal, Nordic, and natural wood change palette and materials, not the room type.

Inspect openings on both files

A and B are independent. If a window or door drifted on one look, keep the other or photograph again from standing height.

AI Room Design vs AI Interior Design

AI Room Design exists to compare two styles on the same photo. AI Interior Design restyles one photo into one style. Use the page that matches the decision you are making.

If you already know the look and only need one restyle, open AI Interior Design. That page runs a single style. This page freezes one source, then runs A and B as separate jobs so you can judge two directions without photographing twice.

Both pages accept the same room types and style names. They do not share a comparison group in your account. Each look on this page is its own tracked task, so a failed B does not undo a finished A.

Compare in three steps

Compare Two Styles in Three Steps

One click starts both looks after the source, room, and two styles freeze. Changing the controls during a run does not rewrite the jobs already in flight.

  1. 01

    Upload one supported room photo

The workbench reads dimensions locally, then uploads with a purpose-bound proof. A and B both use that same source URL.

  2. 02

Choose a room and two styles

Style A and style B must differ. The pair start confirms 50 credits, 25 for each look, before either job is created.

  3. 03

Compare Original, A, and B, then download

On a wide screen you see the source beside both looks. On a phone you keep the original and switch A and B. Download each file separately. Retry only a failed look after you confirm its 25-credit cost.

What AI Room Design Cannot Promise

Each download is a new raster image. It is not a CAD file, floor plan, shopping list, or contractor package. Furniture is invented, not matched to a store item. Windows and doors can still drift even when the brief asks them to stay.

Keep the original file. If an opening drifted, discard that look. This page does not offer a keep-existing-furniture control. If you need wall lengths or clearances, measured 3D floor-plan software remains the next step.

Upload only room photos you have the right to process. Signed-in tasks can appear in My Creations so a look can be recovered after a dropped connection instead of being paid for twice.

The current storage backend has no automatic expiry for uploaded or generated image objects. Delete in My Creations soft-deletes the task record from account history; it does not delete the underlying image object. Review the Privacy Policy before uploading photos of private homes you do not own.

By using the tool, you confirm that your upload complies with the Terms of Service. Reviewed by the Banana Pro AI product team · Last reviewed: 2026-09-15.

Three-way decision

AI Room Design vs Single-Style Restyle vs 3D Floor Plans

Pick the workflow that matches the decision. A same-photo dual style comparison is not a measured layout, and a one-style restyle is not a two-look bakeoff.

Banana Pro AI Room Design

Best for
One living room, bedroom, or study photo when you need two styles on the same source before you pick a direction
Control
Two different styles, Original / A / B review, separate downloads, and a retry that charges only the failed look
Tradeoff
No measurements, and openings can still drift on either look

One-style restyle

Best for
When you already chose a look and only need one restyle of the photo
Control
A single style on AI Interior Design, with a before-and-after split on that one result
Tradeoff
You cannot compare two styles from the same frozen source without running this page or photographing again

Measured 3D floor-plan software

Best for
Renovations that need wall lengths, furniture clearances, and a layout you can dimension
Control
Drawn walls and dimensions you can check against a tape measure
Tradeoff
You build or scan a model first. A photo comparison does not replace that work, and setup takes longer than one upload.

Questions

AI Room Design FAQ

Plain answers about dual styles, credits, recovery, and how this page differs from a one-style restyle.

Do A and B use the same photo?

Yes. Both jobs send the same source image. Look B never sees look A. If A fails, a finished B is still the restyle of your original photo.

Why must the two styles be different?

A comparison with two identical styles is not a comparison. The workbench and the server both reject a pair where style A and style B match.

How much does a comparison cost?

Each look uses 25 credits, so starting both looks uses 50 credits. Retrying a failed look charges only that look after you confirm.

Will windows and doors stay put?

The brief asks the model to keep camera angle, walls, windows, and doors. That is not a guarantee. Straight, standing-height photos hold openings better. Compare both looks with the original before you use either file.

Where do the files go if I refresh?

The workbench stores both in-flight task ids for your signed-in account. Signed-in results can also be opened from My Creations. Refreshing does not start a new 25-credit charge for a task that already exists.
