Denoise, not enlarge

AI Video Restoration

Use AI Video Restoration when a short digitized file is already the right size but looks noisy or blocky. This is not a 2× or 4× upscaler. Tape must already be a digital file. Hidden modes such as colorize, deinterlace, deflicker, and frame interpolation are not offered here.

Size versus degradation

What AI Video Restoration Does

A video upscaler changes pixel count. This page keeps the uploaded width and height and asks a denoise model to reduce grain and compression artifacts. If the job is a larger delivery file, open Video Upscaler instead.

The verified mode is conservative denoise at original size. It does not redraw faces, clothes, on-screen type, or the era of the scene. It does not colorize black-and-white film. It does not invent missing frames.

Bring a 480p or 576p 4:3 digital file when you have one. The workbench will not silently stretch a 4:3 clip into 16:9. Whole tapes and feature-length movies are out of scope.

Four steps

How to Restore a Short Old Clip Online

Start with a digitized MP4 or MOV you are allowed to edit. Keep the original file. Treat the download as a reviewed copy, not a master of an analog tape.
  1. 01

    Upload one short digitized clip

Choose an MP4 or MOV up to 20 MB and 15 seconds, with each side at most 1,920 pixels.

  2. 02

    Keep conservative denoise

v1 offers one verified mode. Denoise at original size. Post-restore upscale, colorize, deinterlace, deflicker, and frame interpolation stay hidden.

  3. 03

    Review credits, then submit

Billing is 10 credits per started second. A 1.2 second clip bills 2 seconds. Failed validation does not charge.

  4. 04

Compare the same timestamp, then download

Play original and result together. Inspect faces, type, and clothing. Download only the file you accept. Recover the task from My Creations if the tab closes.

Labeled Stills, Not Competitor Clips

These stills are labeled illustrations of the jobs this page accepts. They are not measured vendor outputs, family tapes, or competitor results. Actual clips vary. Inspect your own timestamp before you keep a download.

480p 4:3 home-video file

A digitized NTSC-style 4:3 file with compression blocks. Restore should keep the 4:3 frame. Do not expect a 16:9 stretch or a colorize pass.

576p PAL-style digital file

A short 576p file after tape has already been captured to disk. This page will not ingest analog VHS. Capture first, then upload.

Compressed talking-head clip

A short talking-head export with mosquito noise around edges. Denoise may soften blocks. It must not replace the person, wardrobe, or on-screen text.

Pick the right video tool

AI Video Restoration vs Video Upscaler

Banana Pro AI already has Video Upscaler for 2× and 4× enlargements. Restoration is a different job. Use this page when the file is already the delivery size and the problem is degradation.

This page

This page owns conservative denoise at original resolution for short digitized clips, with same-timestamp compare and a 15 second cap.

Video Upscaler

Video Upscaler enlarges a short MP4 or MOV by 2× or 4×. It does not claim artifact repair at the original size.

Open Video Upscaler when you need more pixels. Stay here when you need less noise and fewer compression blocks without changing width or height.

Choose the honest path

Restore vs Upscale vs Generative Edit

These three Banana Pro AI video tools do different work. Mixing them in copy would over-claim.

AI Video Restoration

Best for
Short digitized clips that are already the right size but look noisy or blocky.
Control
Original frame size. Conservative denoise only.
Tradeoff
Will not enlarge, colorize, deinterlace, or rebuild missing frames.

Video Upscaler

Best for
A short clip that must ship at 2× or 4× pixel count.
Control
Explicit 2× or 4× factor and tracked download.
Tradeoff
Changes size. It is not this restoration pipeline.

AI Video Editor

Best for
A prompt-driven change such as a product color or backdrop.
Control
Written instruction on an uploaded short clip.
Tradeoff
Generative redraw is not fidelity restore.

What This Page Will Not Do

  • It will not colorize black-and-white footage by default.
  • It will not deinterlace, deflicker, or interpolate new frames.
  • It will not restore a whole tape or a long movie in one job.
  • It will not ingest analog VHS. Digitize first.
  • It will not silently stretch 4:3 into 16:9.
  • It will not change identity, clothes, on-screen text, scene, or era.

AI Video Restoration FAQ

Is this a reskin of Video Upscaler?

No. Video Upscaler changes pixel count with 2× or 4×. AI Video Restoration keeps the uploaded size and runs conservative denoise for grain and compression artifacts.

Can I restore a full VHS tape or a movie?

No. The public cap is 15 seconds and 20 MB. Capture the tape to a digital file first, then restore a short clip. Whole-tape and feature-length jobs are out of scope.

Will this colorize old footage?

No. Colorize is not a default and is not offered on this page. Black-and-white digitized files stay black and white.

Does restoration keep original audio?

Do not assume audio is preserved. The verified v1 path is visual denoise at original size. Inspect the download, including sound, before you keep it.

What files work best?

Short 480p or 576p 4:3 digital files, or other clips whose longest side is 1,920 pixels or smaller. Undecodable or oversize uploads fail before credits are charged.

How are credits billed?

10 credits per started second. Partial seconds round up. Check the workbench quote before you submit.

Where do I find a job if I close the tab?

Open My Creations. The task uses a fixed tool slug and an idempotent callback, so a refresh should not start a second charge for the same request id.
